Neighborhood-based Assistance
The basic unit of the Society is the Conference — a group of men and women who wish to live the Vincentian Vocation: a blend of spiritual growth, fellowship and service to those in need. Conferences usually are affiliated with parishes and are identified by the parish name. With more than 3,500 members in central and northern Arizona, St. Vincent de Paul's parish-based Conferences of Charity help thousands of people in need of assistance.
In the spirit of what it truly means to serve others, Vincentians visit the needy in their homes providing them with assistance in the form of food, furniture, clothing, rent payments, utility payments and much more. By going directly to their homes, relationships are established, providing opportunities for positive lifestyle changes, emotional support and friendships that last forever.
Last year, Vincentian members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul made 47,054 home visits and delivered 255,374 food boxes. Vincentians provided thousands of visiting hours to prisons, nursing homes and hospitals. Members performed 419,328 hours of service with a value to St. Vincent de Paul that can only be described in one word: priceless.
