2nd Annual Spring Break Alternative
Kansas State students to spend Spring Break Volunteering
Phoenix, AZ – While many college students will spend their spring breaks on beaches and in coastal party towns, students from Kansas State University, are choosing a much different way to celebrate their holiday.
On Saturday, March 20, Kansas State students will be arriving at the Society of St. Vincent de Paul for the 2nd Annual Spring Break Alternative. These college students will donate their time and talents to the Society during their spring break recess.
Thirty-three students will arrive at the Dan O'Meara campus on Saturday, March 20 around 4:00PM. The following Monday and Tuesday (March 22-23), Kansas State students will volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul's Bell Road and Sunnyslope Thrift Stores, not to mention two SVdP dining rooms and throughout the Dan O'Meara Center campus. Projects include preparation and serving meals to dining room guests, organization and housekeeping of various program areas, outdoor and grounds beautification, painting and much more!
As a special treat, the Newman Center at Arizona State University will be hosting a special lecture on Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" on Tuesday, March 23 and has invited Kansas State student volunteers to attend.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is extremely flattered that Kansas State students have decided to return to SVdP and volunteer during their spring break. They demonstrate a willingness to serve others that reiterates the philosophy of our organization.
