Keeping it Clean for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul

Kyrene de Los Cerritos Elementary students collect hygiene items for homeless

PHOENIX, AZ - AStudents from Kyrene de Los Cerritos Elementary School showered St. Vincent de Paul's Ministry to the Homeless with amazing quantities of hygiene items collected from April 12 through April 30. Items were picked up at the school on May 5.

Kindergarten students collected 297 bars of soap, 41 containers of deodorant and 9 bottles of body wash; First-graders collected 63 bottles of shampoo, 37 bottles of conditioner, 6 hairbrushes, 55 combs and 200 hair ties; Second-graders collected 303 toothbrushes, 279 toothpaste tubes and four bottles of mouthwash; Third-graders collected 6 boxes of diapers and 20 containers of baby wipes; and Fifth-graders collected 12 bottles and boxes of laundry detergent and 9 boxes of fabric softener.

Monday through Friday, SVdP's Ministry to the Homeless opens its doors and assists approximately 100 homeless men, women and children daily. Guests receive food boxes, shelter referrals, utilities assistance, and are also able to take showers, receive a haircut, obtain hygiene items and clothing.

The students from Kyrene de Los Cerritos Elementary School have made a wonderful and much needed contribution to St. Vincent de Paul's Ministry to the Homeless. In true St. Vincent de Paul spirit, they have helped the Society help others.
