2019 Holiday Drives for Food and Families
The holidays are a great time to participate in yearly traditions and gather with friends and family over delicious, home-cooked meals. Why not add a new tradition with your loved ones this year — help your neighbors in need by donating to one of our holiday drives for food and families! Whether you’d like to donate nonperishable food items, host a drive or attend an event, here’s our list of simple ways you can join us in feeding hungry families this holiday season.
Help Collect a Million Meals
Million Meal Crusade
Join our good friends at 102.5 KNIX to collect a million meals for hungry families in Arizona! You can help add to the million meal goal by collecting non-perishable food at your school, office and neighborhood. Simply fill out a food drive interest form and we'll be in touch to drop off the boxes! You can also support the drive by donating all month long at any Safeway and Albertsons in Arizona. Barrel Boy and others from the station will be visiting various stores to broadcast live. Visit the KNIX website to see the schedule!
Put a Turkey on a Family's Dinner Table This Thanksgiving
12 News is partnering with AJ's, Bashas’ and Food City to help put turkeys in family food boxes, just in time for Thanksgiving! It’s a holiday tradition for many Arizona families and the largest one-day turkey drive in the nation! All month long, you can help give us a head start by making a donation at the register. Each $15 will provide a turkey for a local family in need. You can also donate online or text TURKEY to 474747.
On Turkey Tuesday, Nov. 26, visit your local Bashas' and Food City to donate a turkey. St. Vincent de Paul food pantry volunteers will be stationed at every store to take your donation back to the nearest pantry to be packed straight into a food box. Many of the turkeys collected during the day will end up in a local home by the end of the night!

Adopt-A-Family
Are you interested in a more personal way of giving back? Consider helping a single family in need this Christmas through our Adopt-A-Family program. This program allows individuals and families to “adopt” families in need in the Phoenix area by providing Christmas gifts and meals. Last year, 900 families were adopted! Sponsoring a family is as simple as providing the fixings for a Christmas dinner and a gift for the family. It’s a great project for families, office groups, organizations, clubs and school. Reach out and spread the joy this holiday season through this unique holiday drive! To become a sponsor, please call 602.261.6820. The deadline to sign up as a sponsor is December 11.
