In the summer months, St. Vincent de Paul gives out 2,500 bottles of water a day to people in need who seek services and refuge at the nonprofit during Arizona’s most grueling season. That's 17,500 bottles or more than 2,300 gallons of water in one week.
That water doesn’t magically appear. Sometimes SVdP buys it in bulk. Just one week of water costs the nonprofit $2,100.
From June 1-14 donate online or at the register of your local Bashas’ or Food City. All monetary donations will go toward purchasing water for SVdP guests.
You can also donate cases of water at Bashas’, Food City and SVdP thrift store locations or call into support the cause during the ABC15 Water Drive telethon airing June 11.
Without the water donations on which SVdP water relief depends, people in need risk dehydration or worse – heat related illness that can quickly turn deadly. In 2019, Maricopa County saw another record 197 heat-associated deaths of which people experiencing homelessness accounted for 37 percent.
Last year the ABC15 Water Drive provided 18-weeks’ worth of life-saving water. Help us cover the entire heat season again, and keep people alive.
Donate online today to the ABC15 Water Drive and help SVdP offer water relief.
