What goes in a care package for someone on the street?
If you would like to help the people you see experiencing homelessness on the streets by creating a useful care package easily stored in your car and handed out, you're in the right spot! We talked to our staff who curated this handy list for you. People often hand out water and nonperishable snacks. Below are some additional items not always thought of but easily put together at home to give out when you come in contact with someone living on the street.

1. Need-a-Hand cards (for referral to services at St. Vincent de Paul)
2. Deodorant
3. Quarters (not bills) to use at Laundromats
4. Notebook, with a calendar if possible
5. Small first aid kit, with band aids and gauze
6. Flashlight
7. Travel-size shampoo
8. Hand wipes
9. A pair of socks
10. Small hair comb
