Helping From Home: How to Make Farm Seed Markers

Follow these simple instructions to make farm seed markers at home

Help St. Vincent de Paul’s Urban Farm protect their newly planted seeds. We need garden stakes that let visitors know where seeds are newly planted, so they do not accidentally step on them. These markers let volunteers and visitors know where they can and cannot step while in the farm.

Get creative at home while making these farm seed markers!

What you will need:

-Choose stakes or wood pieces that are 3 inches high and not too wide. Click here to see an example of a wooden stake available at Home Depot.
-Markers, paint sticks, stickers, stencils, etc., for designing the farm seed markers

Step-by-step instructions:

1. Please write the words "Seeds Growing" on each marker.
2. Decorate the markers/signs by adding flowers, hearts, ladybugs, vegetables, fruit, or a design of your choosing!
3. You’re done!

Helpful tip: Make sure to decorate the farm seed markers with materials that can tolerate the sun and heat.

If you have any questions or would like to receive video instructions via email, please contact Shawn Donnelly at sdonnelly@svdpaz.org. After making the farm seed markers, you can either mail them to SVdP or drop them off.
