Help St. Vincent de Paul Fill the Food Bank

While many Arizonans will spend the Fourth of July weekend enjoying time with family and food, others will spend the holiday worrying about where their next meal will come from. That’s why St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) is partnering with Safeway Albertsons Foundation and ABC15 for Fill the Food Bank, a seven-day monetary food drive running from July 1 to July 7, dedicated to helping Arizona children and families facing food insecurity.

Thanks to a $25,000 matching gift from Safeway Albertsons Foundation, every donation will have an even greater impact. Throughout the campaign, supporters can donate monetarily by visiting stvincentdepaul.net/feedkids.

Monetary donations allow SVdP to stretch every dollar by purchasing food in bulk and securing resources at significantly reduced costs.

Monetary gifts provide:

• Food boxes for families throughout Arizona who face transportation barriers and cannot regularly access our dining rooms.
• More than 5,000 nutritious meals served daily through our four charity dining rooms.

Arizona families need help now more than ever

Arizona is facing a growing hunger crisis. Since July 2025, more than 450,000 Arizonans have lost access to SNAP benefits, including nearly 200,000 children. As food assistance declines and the cost of housing, utilities, gas, and groceries continues to rise, many families are struggling to put meals on the table.

Summer creates even greater challenges. When school is out, many children lose access to free or reduced-price breakfasts and lunches. At the same time, Arizona's extreme heat drives up utility costs as families work to keep their homes cool and safe.

At St. Vincent de Paul, we are seeing the impact firsthand. Parents tell us they worry about how they will feed their children, and some families are visiting our charity dining rooms less often because they cannot afford the cost of gas needed to get there.

How donations add up

• $10 provides a hot meal for two children in our Family Dining Room.
• $25 feeds a family of four in our Family Dining Room.
• $50 provides a food box for a family of four that can last two to three days.
• $100 provides dinner for five families of four in our Family Dining Room.

Last year alone, St. Vincent de Paul provided:

• 2.5 million meals through our four charity dining rooms and 36 partner agencies.
• More than 148,000 food boxes through 80+ neighborhood food pantries operated by Vincentian volunteers.
