Theresa Alejo

The SVdP baker brings smiles to faces with her cookies, cakes, dough and infectious personality

You can't help but smile when you're around Theresa Alejo inside the kitchen at St. Vincent de Paul. Her cheerfulness and fun personality inspires volunteers to serve and—we're convinced—makes her cookies perfectly sweet. As SVdP's resident baker, Theresa not only makes millions of cookies for SVdP guests, volunteers, donors and staff, but she also makes all the dough every week for Pizza Friday, a SVdP tradition. She's worked in the kitchen for 22 years, doing just about anything and everything asked to keep the kitchen going. Theresa first started as a volunteer fulfilling community service hours after a bit of trouble. Her second chance as a staff member became SVdP's great joy. For her dedication, commitment to service and spirited nature, Theresa is the next SVdP person to be featured in our Behind the Hope series. Watch her story above or click here

Behind the Hope is brought to you by SVdP's Bruce Cooper and Chris Peterson.
