What’s it all about?


Hunger and food insecurity continue to rise in Arizona. Lack of proper nutrition leads to permanent, life-altering illnesses. Our kitchen is the largest commercial kitchen in Arizona, preparing 7,000 nutritional meals every day. This central location is responsible for providing meals to all four St. Vincent de Paul Dining Rooms and over 35 partner social services agencies, supplying the proper vitamins and nutrients to individuals throughout the state.

What to expect

Age Requirements
  • Individuals 14+
  • Kids 9+ with an adult
Duties in the Kitchen
  • Learning knife skills and safety while chopping vegetables, fruits, and meat
  • Opening cans
  • Washing and processing produce from the Urban Farms
  • Panning out frozen foods
  • Packaging food
  • Making sandwiches and sack lunches
  • Clean up (e.x. Mopping, taking out garbage, washing dishes, etc.)

Shelter Plating in the Kitchen
  • SVdP is currently providing food for 5 shelters throughout the valley and will be adding at least 4 more over the next year. That is over 7,000 meals a day! 
  • The folks in these shelters are recovering from the trauma of the streets, and a home-cooked, nutritious meal is a significant contribution to their wellness. 
  • Your help plating these meals is saving lives and restoring health and dignity. 
Salad and Go in the Kitchen
  • Prepare individual ingredients for salads
  • Join the assembly line to put together 1,500 healthy salads
  • Package and rack salads for distribution to dining rooms
  • Clean-up/tear down

We require a minimum of 2 hours per shift.
