Helping From Home: SVdP Volunteer Opportunities
For nearly 75 years, St. Vincent de Paul has opened its doors to feed, clothe, house, and heal our neighbors in need. It’s the generosity and passionate support of our volunteers that makes this work possible.
Our volunteers selflessly serve the community in our dining rooms, medical and dental clinics, thrift stores, ministry to the homeless, Dream Center, urban farm, and more.
Unfortunately, the current global COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we operate. While SVdP normally cultivates an environment of human connection and social embracing, during this unprecedented time, we must take the necessary precautions to keep everyone safe. That means asking our beloved volunteer family to stay at home for now. Please stay safe as you keep those around you healthy.
But we know many of you still have a heart for those in need and a desire to continue helping in any way possible. So although we may not be able to see you in person, there are still many ways you can help from home!

Make Fabric Face Masks
We are in great need of fabric masks for SVdP staff. We’re doing everything we can to keep our staff safe and would be grateful for your help! Learn how you and your family can have a fun family craft night using our step-by-step instructions on how to make fabric masks.
Make Hand Sanitizer
Help SVdP stay safe and healthy by making hand sanitizer and bottling it for distribution to our guests and staff, or to be used in our dining areas. We have a simple at-home recipe to make it easier for you!
Make Farm Seed Markers
Help SVdP’s Urban Farm protect newly planted seeds by making farm seed markers (stakes) at home. When new plants are being grown in the farm, these markers show visitors and volunteers where they can and cannot step.
Plant Seed Starters
Start seedlings at home to help our Urban Farm continue to flourish during this time. When the farm reopens for volunteers, you can bring in your starters to plant in the ground.
