100 Days of Summer & heat relief begin
St. Vincent de Paul's 100 Days of Summer returns at a critical time to rally aid for the community's most vulnerable members. Each summer month is dedicated to a high-need item, encouraging the public to follow and support the nonprofit for 100 days and help meet the urgent needs that summer brings. June 1 marks the full launch of heat relief services that will run through September 30 across multiple SVdP locations. Learn more about our heat relief sites and hours here.

In 2025, Maricopa County recorded 430 heat-related deaths — the first year-after-year decline in a decade, down from the record-breaking 645 deaths in 2023 and 603 in 2024. However, the numbers remain devastating as our community continues to experience dangerously high temperatures earlier each year. As temperatures rise, many families are forced to make difficult financial decisions just to stay cool and safe, often falling behind on bills and facing the risk of eviction during the most dangerous months of the year, when the heat can quickly become life-threatening.
Arizona saw 178 fewer heat-related deaths in 2025 compared with 2024,” SVdP's Rob and Melani Walton Endowed CEO Shannon Clancy says. “However, even one death is one too many. Every number represents a person, a loved one and a family impacted by extreme heat. As summer approaches, many Arizonans face the frightening reality of enduring extreme temperatures without the basic essentials needed to stay safe. Through SVdP’s 100 Days of Summer campaign, our community has the opportunity to come together, protect vulnerable neighbors, and help save lives during the hottest months of the year.
By staying engaged and supporting 100 Days of Summer, the community can help SVdP respond to all these increased summer needs.
